Sometimes we think we have no affect on the world. But we do. We can't all be politicians, judges, lawyers, doctors, or Tony Robbins, but what we do everyday counts. It's simple. Make Someone Happy. And I think that's what I accomplished when I took my dear sister Tiffany out  (even though I am sick) to an Andy Warhol art exhibit in Lido's 798 district.

I was initially quite embarassed because I was not fashionably attired for the event (refer to work out ensemble below). Nonetheless, I tried to mingle amongst the usual crowd of socialites who are usually accustomed to seeing the Bear in much more formal wear. Ah, bah! I finally said...We're all there for the free flowing wine, champagne and h'ordeuvres anyway! Who's looking at other people's outfits when visions are going double and people are more worried about indigestion than whether or not "so-and-so" is decked out in last season's Manolo Blahniks.

Outfits aside, it was a fun night. My sister Tiffany, a.k.a, Dogg, is a film major, here to shoot an Olympic documentary (My brother Philip, a.k.a., Cubb, gave her that nickname Dogg because she doesn't quite look like she came from the same parents). Dogg wants to bridge the disconnect and unravel the ignorance and misunderstanding that governs the dialect between East and West -- China, and America (Canada included). She wants to make a fim that will break down, or at the very least, shed light on the ethnocentric views that people hold onto tighter than they would to the last glass of water in a desert. We don't know what else is out there. And our fear is governed by the unknown.

Back to Andy Warhol. Tiffany loves Warhol's photography and work, hence me taking her to the show. In case you don't know who he is, Andy Warhol is the genius prick who is credited for making art out of pop culture memorabilia and household products from his era. Namely, Campbell soup cans, tuna fish, iconic figures like Marilyn Monroe, etc.

After posing by random pics of his rather limited collection here, and me explaining to friends decked out in Gucci and Valentino why I'm dressed for an Adidas torch relay rather than a fashion/art show-off, we departed for a friend's BBQ. Then to Vics for a night of dancing...That's when the real fun began, because this Xiao Xiong loves to shake her tail feather on the dance floor!

Speaking of dancin', here's a lil musical inspiration...

Lyrics to a song by Faithless called Bombs. A reminder to be grateful you're able to access the internet and read this right now while children and innocent families are having their homes bombed to pieces in countries devasted by war. May Peace come quickly to all those in Iraq, Sudan...

Lyrics: Faithless - Bombs lyrics
Album: To All New Arrivals

"If I don't get out of this I, I wish, I just want you to know that I really really love you."

So much more than I thought this world could ever hold
So much more than I thought this world could ever hold

We think we're heroes, we think we're kings
We plan all kinds of fabulous things
Oh look how great we have become

Key in the door, the moment I've been longing for
Before my bag hit the floor
My adorable children rush up screaming for a kiss,
And a story, they're a gift to this world
My only claim to glory
I surely never knew sweeter days
Blows my mind like munitions
I'm amazed

So much heaven, so much hell
So much love, so much pain
So much more than I thought this world could ever contain
So much war, so much soul
Moments lost, moments go
So much more than I thought this world can ever hold
We're just children, we're just dust
[ Bombs lyrics found on http://www.completealbumlyrics.com ]
We are small and we are lost
And we're nothing, nothing at all

One bomb, the whole block gone
Can't find me children and dust covers the sun
Everywhere is noise, panic and confusion
But to some, another fun day in Babylon
I'm gonna bury my wife and dig up my gun
My life is done so now I got to kill someone

So much heaven, so much hell
So much love, so much pain
So much more than I thought this world could ever contain
So much war, so much soul
Moments lost, moments go
So much more than I thought this world could ever hold

So much more than I thought this world could ever hold
So much more than I thought this world could ever hold

So much heaven, so much hell
So much love, so much pain
So much more than I thought this world could ever contain
So much war, so much soul
Moments lost, moments go
So much more than I thought this world could ever hold

Filming on the street parallel to Changanjie on day of Olympic torch in Beijing...People knew they wouldn't get a look, but came out anyway...

Yo Jennifer,  just learned that you are from the T-Dot.. cool. Also see you are a 798 fan - I'd love to invite you to our Art Event in September - there's a good chance a (very) famous sports celebrity may attend... in the meantime, I see you still use the old skool peace sign in some of your photos... please consider using the new 3 finger "eace Plus One" Sustainability Symbol in your next fun photo. Add some meaning and make a difference! (you can find out more at www.SustainabilitySymbol.com if you like)
