The Olympics and Paralympics have come to an end, but sports in China is at a new beginning! Athleticism is sky high in the nation that boasts some of the strongest divers, gymnasts, paddlers and sharp shooters. It's not just Yao -- Chinese female tennis players are reaching new heights on the court. 

Li Na, Zheng Jie, Yan Zi, Peng Shuai, Sun Tian Tian... Some of these names that I only heard of two years ago when starting Sports Scene are now paving the way for young girls in China. 

Sun Tiantian and Li Ting won doubles gold at the Athens Olympics in 2004. Two years later Zheng and Yan Zi became China's first Grand Slam champions after winning the doubles at both the Australian Open and Wimbledon. In 2006,  Li Na reached the last eight at Wimbledon. And now, in 2008, a month before the Olympics, Zheng Jie became the first Chinese player to reach the last four at Wimbledon, knocking out No 1 seed Ana Ivanovic on the way. (Source)

The victory is Hsieh’s first WTA win this year and the third of her career. It was the first time in eight years that Hsieh, who is ranked 56th on the WTA rankings and 22nd seeded Peng have played together. The win adds 165 points to their rankings.
